BARRINGTON Barrington Public Library From Route 95, Heading South : Take Exit to 195 East, go 3 miles to Exit 7, Route 114 South (Barrington, Seekonk). On Route 114 South, go 6.5 miles to stoplight (it is the second stoplight in town, the first is at the White Church). Turn left at the stoplight, up the hill into the Government Center, the Library is on the right, Town Hall is on the left. From Route 114 Heading North: Cross over the bridge from Warren into Barrington. Stay on Route 114, turn right at the 4th stoplight (about 1 mile from the bridge), up the hill into the Government Center. The library is on the right. BRISTOL Rogers Free Library Rogers Free Library is located in the heart of historic Bristol on Route 114 (Hope Street). From points south, cross the Jamestown, Newport, and Mount Hope Bridges and proceed north on Route 114 until you reach the Library (immediately adjacent to the post office). From the north, exit onto Route 195 east (off Route 95) and exit Route 114/Barrington and Warren. Remain on Route 114 through those towns and proceed south into Bristol, Rogers Free Library is directly across from Linden Place, the beautiful Colt mansion. BURRILLVILLE From 146: Take the Slatersville-Forestdale exit-- also marked "to Routes 5 & 102"-- onto Route 146A. Go north, following the signs towards Slatersville and Route 102. There is a light at Slatersville Plaza intersection. Route 102 begins at the intersection. Go STRAIGHT THROUGH the light, the plaza on your left, and you are now on 102 south. Continue on Route 102 for about 5 miles until you come to a light at Route 107 (NOT Route 7 which you crossed earlier). Go RIGHT onto 107 west, East Avenue, towards Harrisville. Stay on East Avenue until you cross the bridge at the waterfall. You will see the new library on your left. Continue up to the intersection and take a left onto Harrisville's Main Street. Tinkham Lane, the entrance to the library, is only a short way down on the left. (If you pass Niko's Pizza, you have gone too far!) From Route 295: Take exit 8B for Route 7 north. Stay on 7 until it crosses Route 102 (watch out for a dog-leg jog in 7 when you pass the Western Hotel-- you should veer right over a small bridge). At the light, turn left onto Route 102 south & continue to the light at Route 107, East Avenue. Turn RIGHT onto 107 west towards Harrisville. Stay on East Avenue until you cross the bridge at the waterfall. You will see the new library on your left. Continue up to the intersection and take a left onto Harrisville's Main Street. Tinkham Lane, the entrance to the library, is only a short way down on the left. Coming up Route 102 from the south: Watch for signs after Chepachet Village to stay on 102 north. At the first traffic light after Chepachet turn LEFT onto Central Street which becomes Harrisville's Main Street & continue straight until you see Niko's Pizza. Tinkham Lane is the first right after Niko's. Pascoag Public Library From 295, exit onto Route 44 West. Stay on Route 44 until you reach Route 100. Take Route 100 North. Continue on Route 100 into Pascoag. When you reach the intersection of Route 100 and 107, you will see a Dunkin Donuts shop on the left. Route 100 jogs to the right. Library is immediately on the right side of the street after the jog in the road. CENTRAL FALLS Central Falls Free Public Library From Route 95 North take Exit 29 (Broadway/Cottage Street Exit). Stay to your left as you come off the exit. Take the Broadway exit. Go to first traffic light (Central Avenue)Take a left at the corner onto Central Avenue. The road changes from Central Avenue to Cross Street once you cross the bridge over the Blackstone River. Stay on Cross Street until you get to the Coelho Funeral Home. Turn right along the side of the funeral home, this is Clinton Street. At the next stop sign turn right. This is a one way street and you must turn right. This is Central Street and the street the Library is on. We are about half a mile on your left hand side. The building is a Greek Revival structure and set back off the street. CHARLESTOWN Cross' Mills Public Library From I-95 take EXIT 3A,: Route 138 EAST; Route 112 SOUTH (9 miles to END); to Route 1. Once on Route 1 - South (and immediately after the junction with Routes 2 & 112) the CROSS MILLS EXIT is a left/U-Turn style exit, followed by crossing all lanes for the actual right turn exit. When you arrive at the STOP SIGN turn LEFT. We are then the second drive-way on your LEFT (our sign is yet another 50 feet ahead of you). COVENTRY Coventry Public Library From 95 North: Take Exit 7 (Coventry/West Warwick). Go right off the end of exit ramp. Drive to a four-way stop sign. Take a left. This puts you on Arnold Road. Drive to the next light. Go straight through to Sandy Bottom Road. Take a left at the next light. This puts you on Route 117, heading West. The library is approximately 2 miles down 117 West from this point. From 95 South: Take Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Road) Take a left at the end of the exit ramp. Go to the light and then turn right onto Route 3. Go to the next light and take a left onto Sandy Bottom Road. Take a left at the next light onto Route 117, heading West. The library is approximately 2 miles down on 117 West from this point. CRANSTON Cranston Public Library FROM PROVIDENCE ON ROUTE 95 SOUTH: Take exit 14 to Route 37 (Cranston). Exit at Pontiac Avenue. At the bottom of the exit ramp bear right, then get into the left lane. Turn left at the first traffic light at Burger King onto Sockanosset Cross Road. The library is located less than a quarter of a mile up the road on the left side, directly across the street from Shaw's Supermarket. FROM WARWICK/SOUTH COUNTY ON ROUTE 95 NORTH: Take exit 14 B to Route 37 (Cranston). Follow directions above. FROM ROUTE 295 SOUTH: Take Route 37 East exit. Exit at Pontiac Avenue. At the end of the exit turn left. Stay in left lane and turn left at the second traffic light at Burger King, onto Sockanosset Cross Road. Proceed as above. FROM PROVIDENCE ON RESERVOIR AVENUE: Travel south on Reservoir Avenue/New London Avenue (Route 2). Just past Chelo's Restaurant on right, continue south through traffic light, and watch for "Garden City/Providence/Dean Parkway" sign. At sign bear right up ramp. Take a left at the top of the ramp, go straight through traffic light, and continue down on Sockanosset Cross Road. The library is located less than a quarter of a mile on the right side of the road, across from Shaw's Supermarket. FROM NEW LONDON AVENUE: Travel north on New London Avenue (Route 2). Go past Route 37 on-ramps. Watch for "Garden City/Dean Parkway" sign and bear right onto that ramp. At the bottom of the exit ramp, bear right onto Sockanosset Cross Road. The library is located less than a quarter of a mile on the right side of the road, across from Shaw's Supermarket. Arlington Reading Room From South: 95 north to Route 10 (Exit 16) to Cranston St. exit. Turn left at first traffic light. Turn left at stop sign onto Cranston St. Arlington Reading Room is located in the Cranston Senior Services building at 1070 Cranston St., on left. OR Reservoir Ave. to Park Ave. Left onto Park Ave. to Gansett Ave. (first traffic light) take right. Straight through next traffic light onto Cranston St. Senior Services building is on right. From North: 95 south to Route 10 to Cranston St. exit. First right then left at traffic light on to Cranston St. Senior Services building is on left. OR follow Cranston St. from Providence to 1070 Cranston St. Auburn Branch From North: Route 95 South to Route 10 to Reservoir Avenue exit (Route 2S).Turn right at the end of the exit ramp. At the third light turn left onto Park Avenue. (Route 12E). Turn sharp right at the next light onto Pontiac Avenue. (The Park Theatre is on your right). Go through one stop sign. The Auburn Branch is the third building on the left. From South: Route 95 North to Route 37 West to Pontiac Avenue exit. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Pontiac Avenue. Go through four traffic lights. Shortly after the Waterman School there will be a fork in the road. A convenience store sits in the middle of the fork. Stay to the left, which is still Pontiac Avenue. The Auburn Branch is 1 1/2 blocks down on the right. Knightsville Branch From Route 95 North or South: Oak Lawn Branch From the North or South , the library may be accessed by taking Exit 3B from Route 295 (Route 37 West). At the end of Route 37 West, take a left onto Phenix Avenue. At the stop sign, take a left onto Wilbur Avenue. The library is the fourth building on the right. From Route 95 heading south from Providence , take exit 14 (Route 37 West). Follow Route 37 West to the end, take a left onto Phenix Avenue. At the stop sign, take a left onto Wilbur Avenue. The library is the fourth building on the right. From Route 95 heading north, take exit 14B (Route 37 West). Follow Route 37 West to the end, take a left onto Phenix Avenue. At the stop sign, take a left onto Wilbur Avenue. The library is the fourth building on the right. William Hall Library Take Route 95 South to Exit 16 for Route 10 South . Go to the very end of Route 10 and swing to the left. At the stop sign, turn right onto Route 12 East/Park Avenue. Go to the end and turn left onto Broad Street. The library will be on your left. Use the parking and entrance in the rear.

From Providence : Take Route 6 west. The last left hand turn before you cross the Connecticut border is at Cucumber Hill Road. Take this left. Countryside Pizza will be on the left immediately before the turn. Follow Cucumber Hill Road for about 5 miles. The road will then curve sharply to the left. You are now on Moosup Valley Road. The library is less than a mile down the road on your right. It is located in a cluster of three white buildings - the church is on the left, and the Grange Hall and library are on the right.

Library driveway and parking is on your left.

NORTH PROVIDENCE Mayor Salvatore Mancini Union Free Library & Cultural Center FROM ROUTE 295 NORTH OR SOUTH: Take the part of Exit 7 labeled Centerdale. Proceed past 4 sets of lights. After the fourth light there will be open lots on your right followed by a big gray building with an "Our Place" sign on its side. After you pass that building start looking for the next street on the left which is Mineral Spring Avenue. Follow Mineral Spring Avenue past 4 lights. As you go down the hill we are on the right immediately following North Providence High School. FROM 1-95 NORTH: Take Route 146 turnoff from 95 North. Take second exit (Route 15 = Mineral Spring Avenue). Take a left (you are now on Mineral Spring). Continue through 4 sets of lights almost, we are located at the top of the next hill, a few buildings past Pizza Hut, on the left, adjacent to North Providence High School. FROM 1-95 SOUTH: Take Branch Avenue exit from 95 South. Continue to end of Branch Avenue ( 2 miles). Turn right, you are now on Douglas Avenue. Continue (about 1 mile) to Mineral Spring Avenue intersection. Turn left onto Mineral Spring. We are located almost at the top of this hill, a few buildings past Pizza Hut (left side), adjacent to North Providence High School. NORTH SMITHFIELD North Smithfield Public Library From Providence take Route 146 North. Continue on 146 towards Worcester as far as the Slatersville-Forestdale exit. After taking the exit, turn sharp left. Follow that road for about 2 miles until you come to the village of Slatersville (Village Green - white church, etc). Keep bearing left past town hall. Library will be on your left. About 1/2 hour from Providence. For the more adventurous: we are at the intersection of Routes 5 and 102. PAWTUCKET Pawtucket Public Library From 95 North: Take Exit 28 (School Street) and turn left off exit ramp; follow the road, turning right on the Main Street bridge over the Blackstone River and take a right at the second set of lights to High Street. The library is at the top of the hill on the corner of High and Summer Streets. From 95 South: Take exit 29 (Downtown Pawtucket), turn right on Fountain Street, right on Exchange Street, and take left on High Street at second set of lights. Library is on the corner of High and Summer Streets. PORTSMOUTH Portsmouth Free Public Library From Providence take I-95 through Fall River. Take exit on right to Route 24 through Tiverton. Cross over Sakonnet River Bridge into Portsmouth. Take second exit on right (just pass Motel). At foot of exit bear left then bear right at stop light on to Route 138 (East Main Road) About 2 miles down the road. Library is on the right at corner of East Main Road and Freeborn Street. Take right at Freeborn Street to get into parking lot. From Bristol cross over Mt. Hope Bridge. Bear right on to Route 114 (Bristol Ferry Road) go straight. When you come to stop light go straight (name of road is now Turnpike Avenue) Continue till you come to Freeborn Street (side street between Medical Center and Bank of Newport). Take left on to Freeborn Street, then left into parking lot. From Newport & Middletown: Route 138 (East Main Road) Take Route 138 (East Main Road) through Portsmouth. Go down hill (gas station & Clement's Market on right). Bank of Newport on triangle bear right & take an immediate left (after Bank of Newport) on to Freeborn Street. Take a right into parking lot. From Newport & Middletown - Route 114 (West Main Road) Take Route 114 (West Main Road) to stop light at Cory's Lane. After stop light road forks when Route 24 begins. At fork, bear left. At end of exit, take right at Freeborn Street. At stop sign, cross Turnpike and continue on Freeborn. Take left into parking lot. PROVIDENCE Providence Public Library FROM 95 SOUTH: Take EXIT 21 (Atwells Avenue). Take Left off exit (at light). Straight through next light (police/fire station on your right). Follow road around to your right. Library will be at next light (corner of Empire & Washington Street). Take right at this light onto Washington Street (Library's main entrance). FROM 195 WEST TO 95 NORTH/95 NORTH: Take EXIT 21 (Broadway). Take Right off exit - follow the road to the right (you will see Holiday Inn and then Civic Center on left - stay in right lane). You will see Fire/Police Station on right. stay straight in the right hand lane. Library will be at next light (corner of Empire & Washington Street). Take right at this light onto Washington Street (Library's main entrance). Fox Point Branch Take Rte. 95 to exit 20 and get on rte. 195 headed East. Go to the GANO Street exit and at the end of the ramp, on to Gano. Turn left at the corner onto Wickenden Street. Proceed up to the next intersection (Ives) and the library is the building on your right. The fox point Community Center with the entrance at the Gano/Ives corner. Rochambeau Branch Take Rte. 95 to exit for Branch Avenue. As you reach the end of the ramp, go to the ramp on the right onto Branch and proceed to the light. You will turn left onto North Main Street and go to the next light at Rochambeau Avenue. Turn right and go the hill to the light at Hope and Rochambeau. Turn Right. The branch is on your right - a red brick building beyond the church at the corner as you turn. Parking is on the street. Wanskuck Branch From the south, take Rte. 95 to the Rte. 146/State Offices exit. As you exit, stay left for Rte. 146, proceed out 146 North to the second exit for Branch Avenue. At the bottom of the ramp turn left and proceed up 1/2 mile to Veazie Street. Turn left, and the library is up the hill and around the bend. From the North, Rte. 95 to Branch Avenue exit. Turn right off exit onto Branch Avenue and follow out to Veazie Street. Proceed as above. Parking is on the street. Mt. Pleasant Branch Take Rte. 95 to exit 20 for Atwells Avenue. Turn right onto Atwells and proceed to Academy Avenue. Turn right on Academy and go to the intersection of Academy and Chalkstone. The library is on Academy just beyond the Walgreen's Drugstore on the right. Parking is on the street. Smith Hill Branch If coming from south, take Rte. 95 to the State Offices exit, and stay right. At the traffic light, turn right and proceed over the highway down to the traffic light at Candace Street. Turn right and proceed to the third block, the library is the red brick building on your right. Washington Park Branch Take Rte. 95 to exit 18 and proceed toward Eddy Street (you will be on Thurbers as you come off the exit). At Eddy, proceed straight on Thurbers and go to the intersection of Prairie Avenue. Turn left and take Prairie to Broad Street. You wiull go left onto Broad Street, cross Interstate 95 and look for the library on your left beyond the Honey Dew Donuts shop. Parking is on the street. Olneyville Branch Take Rte. 95 to exit 21 and follow the signs to Broadway. Turn left (if coming from the south) and proceed out Broadway until it joins with Westminster at the Olneyville Towers. Proceed two blocks and the library is on your left. In a former bank building. Turn at the side street and go to the parking lot directly behind the branch. From North, take Atwells Ave, proceed straight to Broadway. Turn right on Broadway, follow as above. Come around to the front door to enter. South Providence Branch Take Rte. 95 to exit 18. Proceed toward Eddy Street (you will be on Thurbers as you come off the exit). St Eddy, proceed straight on Thurbers and go to the intersection of Prairie Avenue. Turn right and proceed to Oxford where the library will be on the left, behind St. Michael's rectory. Parking is on the Street. Knight Memorial Library Take Rte. 95 to exit 21 and proceed up to Broad Street (look for the YMCA building). Turn right onto Broad and take it to the intersection of Elmwood Avenue, this is a "y" split. Stay to the right, and the library will be set back on your right. Park on the street. Clark Memorial Library FROM NORTH: Follow Route 95 South to Exit 3A - Kingston/Newport. Bear right off the exit onto Route 138 and follow Route 138 until it forks with Route 112 (about 2 miles). Bear right onto 112 and follow for about 2.5 miles until you pass the Carolina Fire Station on the left. Look for the universal library sign (person holding book) and bear left onto Pinehurst Drive shortly after fire station. Library is first building on the right. FROM SOUTH: Follow 95 North into Rhode Island. Take Exit 3B (Kingston/Newport). Directions are then the same as above. FROM EAST: Follow Route 1 South to the intersection with Route 138 (known as "the Tower"). Bear right onto 138 and follow 138 for about twenty miles, until you see a sign for Route 112. Bear left onto 112 and follow as above. FROM WEST: Take Route 1 North to the Kenyon/Carolina exit (Route 112). Follow Route 112 into Carolina, past intersection with Route 91. Once you pass the intersection with Route 91, library is about one mile down the road. Look for the universal library sign, and bear right onto Pinehurst Drive. Library is first building on the right. Hope Library FROM THE SOUTH ON 95 OR 295: FROM THE NORTH ON 95 OR 295: North Scituate Public Library From 295 North or Southbound, take HARTFORD, CT, Route 6 WEST exit. Follow Route 6 West for 3 miles until it forks. Bear left at fork, at the next traffic light (route 116 or Greenville Road) take a right. Library is on the left hand side of the road just before white church, and directly across the street from the gazebo. East Smithfield Public Library FROM PROVIDENCE (State House), take Route 44 (Smith Street) west about 5 miles to Centredale in North Providence. Take the small by-pass in North Providence to the end and turn right. Continue on Route 44 for about 2 miles. Take a right onto Esmond Street, which is the second light on Route 44 after the Centredale by-pass. The library is located on the right hand corner of the next intersection. Enter parking lot from Esmond Street. Building is red brick. FROM 295: Take Exit 7a. This brings you onto Route 44. Esmond Street is a very short distance from Route 295. You would take a left at the first traffic light and continue to the first intersection. Greenville Public Library
Take Route 295 and travel to the Route 44 west, Greenville exit. Take this exit and follow Route 44 (Putnam Pike) approximately two miles. The library is on the right, at the intersection of Route 116 and Route 44, across from the Winsor School. SOUTH KINGSTOWN FROM POINTS NORTH: FROM POINTS SOUTH: FROM AQUIDNECK ISLAND: Take Newport and Jamestown bridges. Do not take Route 1A. When you get off Jamestown Bridge, take Route 138 connector straight across to Route 1 (a few miles). Take Westerly exit off connector, which puts you on Route 1 South. Follow Route 1 - South to the first Wakefield exit and follow directions 4 through 7 under "FROM POINTS NORTH". See * above. FROM SOUTH/POINTS WEST. Essex Public Library I-195 East to 24 South Tiverton Newport Exit. Take the second Tiverton Exit #5 Route 77-177 Tiverton Little Compton. At the end of the ramp, take a left turn. Precede 1/4 mile to a set of blinking lights. Take a left turn - Highland Road. Precede 1/2 mile. The Library is on the left hand side of the road. Union Branch Library FROM PROVIDENCE: FROM NEWPORT: George Hail Free Library Take Route 195 east to the exit for Route 114. Turn south on Route 114. Proceed down the Wampanoag Trail. When you reach the white church on the left you are in Barrington. Proceed through Barrington. When you have crossed two bridges and see the American Tourister sign on your right you are in Warren. Proceed down Main Street about one mile. The Library will be the granite building with a tower on the southeast corner of Croade Street and Main Street on your left, "kitty corner" to the Citizens Bank. Warwick Public Library From Route 95 (North or South), take exit 12A, Route 113 EAST (this is Main Avenue). Continue east past the airport until 113 ends at West Shore Road (Route 117), about 3 miles. Turn left onto 117, go about 1/4 mile to first traffic light, and turn left onto Sandy Lane. The library will be on the right, about one mile. Apponaug Branch From Route 95 (North or South) take exit for Route 117 East. Continue past three intersections; the Library is on the left next to Warwick City Hall. Conimicut Branch From Route 95 (North or South) take exit for Route 37 East. From 37, take Post Road South. Proceed past Ann & Hope store on the right to major intersection at Airport Road. Turn left onto Airport, continue past airport on the right, and through intersection with Warwick Avenue. The road is now called West Shore Road; continue for 1.5 miles to Beach Avenue, then turn left. Library is on the left. Norwood Branch From Route 95 (North or South) take exit for Route 37 East. From 37, take Post Road North. Proceed 1 mile, then turn left onto Elmwood Avenue. Go about 1/2 mile, then turn left onto Pawtuxet Avenue. Library is on the left. Pontiac Free Library
From Route I-95 take exit 12 (Route 113-east). Just before traffic light at Route 5 bear right so that you can make a left turn onto Route 5 north. Follow for 1.8 miles to blinking light with Pontiac Mills on your right. Take right fork with signs pointing toward Greenwich Avenue and Pontiac Library for .5 miles. Pontiac Library is at 101 Greenwich Avenue and is the first building on the left after the All Saints Church. From Route I-95 take the Warwick exit for Route 2 South (Bald Hill Road). At first traffic light near Sears (RI Mall) make a U-turn. From Route 2 north take your first right near Warwick Mall - Access Road (West Natick Road). Pass Warwick Medical and Filene's to Route 5. An Off-Track Bedding store will be diagonally across Route 5. Cross Route 5 and travel one block taking your first left to Pontiac Library at 101 Greenwich Avenue. WEST GREENWICH
Louttit Memorial Library Take Route 95 to Exit 5B (102 North). Louttit Library is exactly 3 miles from Route 95 on the right, next to the West Greenwich Town Hall. WEST WARWICK West Warwick Public Library From I-95 Northbound take: Exit 11 (Route 295 North) to Exit 1 (Route 113 West) to Route 2 South. After about .7 miles on Route 2, turn right onto Route 115 West. Follow Route 115 for approximately 2 miles. Follow sign for Clyde/Phenix to traffic light. Turn left at this light (Domino's Pizza is across the street). This is Main Street. Library will be on the right about 1/2 mile up the hill. Parking is in lot to left of the library (Kenyon Street). From I-95 Southbound take: Exit 12B (Route 113 West), and follow directions from above. Beginning with Route 2 South. WESTERLY Westerly Public Library From 95 South: Take Exit 1 - Westerly/Ashaway to Route 3 South. Continue on Route 3 South for about 6 miles. Where Route 3 ends, continue right onto Route 1 South. The library is two blocks further on the right. From 95 North: Take Exit 91 (Pawcatuck/Westerly) to Route 2. Continue on Route 2 towards Westerly. Where Route 2 ends, continue by turning left onto Route 1 North. Route 1 North winds through downtown Westerly. The library will be at the intersection of Union and Broad. From Route 1 South: The library is located on Route 1 South, Broad Street just two blocks before the Connecticut State line. WOONSOCKET Woonsocket Harris Public Library Take either Rte. 295 or 95 to Rte. 146 From Rte. 146, Take the Woonsocket/Park Square exit. Bear to the right at the second traffic light, onto Park Ave. Stay on Park Ave. until it ends then turn left onto Hamlet Ave. Go over a short bridge and at the traffic signal, turn right onto Clinton St. Go through one traffic signal, past a New England Telephone building and the library is the next building on the right. Alternate route: Take either Rte. 295 or 146 to Rte. 99. From Rte. 99, Turn left at the end of Rte. 99 and stay to the left. Continue through 5 traffic lights. At the 6th traffic light, turn left onto Social St. At the 1st traffic light on Social Street, turn left onto Pond St. At the end of Pond St., turn left and then a quick right into the library parking lot. |
